U310 & U410 - Black one inch Bar on the right side of the screen on my Lenovo Ideapad U410 Laptop.

Hi,

I have a Lenovo Ideapad U410 Laptop with Have Windows 8.1, Diplay Adapters ->  Intel HD Graphics 4000, Nvidia Geoforce 610 M.

Recently I have suddenly had a problem appear with my laptop. A One Inch Black Bar on the right side of the screen is appearing as if it is the end of the screen, whereas as you can see it is not. Also at the bottom of the screen the taskbar which was auto hide is not working, so had to lock the taskbar.

 Tried many things like :

1) Display settings adjustments - Recommended is 1280 X 800 [Not sure if it is the original ones];

2) Updated Drivers for Intel HD Graphics 4000 and Nvidia Geoforce 610 M;

3) Update BIOS;

4) Etc.

Any ideas what the issue is ??? Any one face similar issues. Any solution is greatly appreciated.

Re: Black one inch Bar on the right side of the screen on my Lenovo Ideapad U410 Laptop.

hi dharamc,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Have you tried checking this issue under the BIOS mode.

  Power ON the computer and start hitting F2.

If the problem is visible under BIOS, then don't mind the driver as the problem might be the GPU or the LCD screen.

  to isolate the issue further you can use an external monitor.

If the problem is not visible under an external monitor, then you have a problem with the GPU

Let us know your findings

Cheers!

Hi

Can you try hitting FN+F2

Tap those keys when you power it on.

Re: Black one inch Bar on the right side of the screen on my Lenovo Ideapad U410 Laptop.

Hi

Two other ways to get into BIOS

One is on this Guide

http://www.thewindowsclub.com/access-uefi-firmware-settings-windows-8-1

The other way is to Press the OKR Button (Small button on the left side near the vents) When the computer is OFF

You will have a boot list to select from, Choose either Set up or Enter Set up

I have same issue on U310.

I reinstalled Windows but still black 1" bar exist vertically on the right side of the screen.

I connected to external monitor and it is fine there.

is it still GPU problem? fox to fix it?

Re: Black one inch Bar on the right side of the screen on my Lenovo Ideapad U410 Laptop.

I have the same problem with a 310U.

I've updated drivers and followed the other suggestions I could find.  Still have the black bar on the right.  Went away a week ago but came bact today.  Had set a restore point when working, restored to that point, but no change.

Under display setting only have options as high as 1280 x ??, no 1366 options.

Any suggestions welcome.

Re: Black one inch Bar on the right side of the screen on my Lenovo Ideapad U410 Laptop.

Hi

Having exactly the same ssie with a Lenovo U310 Ultrabook - One inch bar as pictured by dharamc.

I presumed it was the screen, so I have replaced it and unfortuanely the issue is still present. There doesn't appear to be any probelm with external displays via HDMI - they display perfectly.

Does anyone have any more advice they could add? Perhaps Lenovo could shed some light?

Many thanks

Re: Black one inch Bar on the right side of the screen on my Lenovo Ideapad U410 Laptop.

Mine has come back a couple of times.  I suspect the signal from the display to the GPU ... connection, solder joint etc, but thats a WAG.
