Out of the blue my Lenovo Ideapad u310 will not boot anymore. I'f I press the power button, the power and battery lights turn on (as usual), the capslock light flashes once, but nothing else. No screen, no sound, no response.
I've tried: an external monitor
resetting Ram by removing it
Booting with and without another hdd/sdd
unplugging the battery, booting only from external power
Nothing worked though.
Specs: Lenovo ideapad u310
Model name: 4375
I think it is a motherboard problem, but yeah, let's hope it is something minor!

Hi Forg ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Power On Self Test (POST) is a measure of functionality of main devices indicated by a working BIOS screen , manufacturer splash logo screen, and caps /num lock able to turn on/off.
So without the harddrive and battery , it should still complete P.O.S.T. with the main screen and even on external monitor (to differentiate a display issue) . Try shutting it down and remove the battery and harddrive , use one RAM at a time ( best if RAM can also be tested on another laptop). Press down the power button for 12 seconds to drain. Then using the Novo key (would work like a power button) to turn back on while connected to the ac adapter.
Taking account of the status indicators (page 30), as a solid blue/white power indicator implies laptop being supplied . keyboard flashed as the current verified the input device.
The moment it would be checking the video chip (black display) and if same with external monitor suggest a no post issue with solid power LED. DIsplay chipset is in question as it is soldered on the board. Reball / rework suggested by some is a unorthodox fix with specialized service center.
Still try to clean out the fan and probably reapply thermal paste and check on GPU contacts to the board and improve ventilation as needed.
Update us how it goes.
