Re: U330 bios doesn't enable virtualization techonology mode?

If you find a bios recovery procedure for the Ideapad that works, please share with us.  I'm interested in trying this but only if I can insure that a fatal error isn't irreversible.

Yes I am also interested!!! I can't seem to get a data dump of my bios (don't have a good linux -cygwin setup) and I need to run virtual pc so that I can use full linux for simulation software at school. Thats why I bought this **bleep** thing!

I called Lenovo last night and gave them an earful.  Unfortunately there were no supervisors so I will be calling again tomorrow.  This is pathetic.  Why turn off hardware features and not allow users to enable them?  If this is a tactic to get me to buy a higher end PC, it's backfired because I won't buy another lenovo.

Thanks guys,

Crystal

Hi o0TMS0o,

Would you please upload your modified BIOS file into some free-file-share website if there are no daily using problems? I do not have a Linux enviroment....

Thanks:smileywink:

I everyone, sorry for thedelay i was on holidays, it was good and mostly away from a computer ^^

Well about my modified bios, you have to know that each Bios is different, so my bios tweaked won't fit in you laptop.

Know that i have some time (unemployed .....:) ) I will write a procedure to do that. I'll be back in a couple of day hopefully.

and about the linux env, you can do it under cygwin on windows, so there is still hope :)

See ya

Hi everyone, i've finaly written a procedure, everything went ok for me, except that i did'nt flash my bios yet, because of no recovery procedure.

i've made a Zip file here you can find the utils needed and a PDF file with the instruction.

I take no responsibilities if somethng go wrong with this.

anyway if you have any questions, i suggest you to read and post on marcan's blog here :

http://marcansoft.com/blog/2009/06/enabling-intel-vt-on-the-aspire-8930g/

it may happend that it already exist a solution to your problem, specially if it is about running the tool, installing lzma ect.

you can still ask me but my knowledge is rather limited....

here is the link for the zip file:

http://rapidshare.com/files/285323825/Procedure_enable_VT.zip.html

Have fun

The link was additional specifications if you needed them.

Plus for anyone who was reading your problem and wanted to look into the processor.

I am still trying to figure out if my processor can be upgraded for another.

I have the T5750, under specifications it says [X] for Embedded (Soldered to the Board), the [X] meaning it has a Socket, otherwise it would be checked off(I assume.)

In which case, I need to find out WHAT the socket is (I believe SLA4D.)

That's a whole different story though.

It is really a risk to modify bios. I do not want my U330 turn in to a stone~~~
