U330 under linux with ATI gfx board disabled

2009-11-02, 19:46 PM

Hi,

It's now possible to use U330 under Linux with good autonomy !

It exists a module which disable ATI board with Switchable configuration. Atfer loaded, only Intel gfx is active and system uses around 12w against 23w before !

More info : ubuntu forums

Also, I packaged a dkms rpm.

For automatic loaded at boot time :

echo '/sbin/modprobe lenovo_acpi'  >> /etc/rc.modules

chmod 744 /etc/rc.modules

update: the module builds against 2.6.24+ . Bellow, under rhel5 by example, you have to modify the source to remove acpi_format_exception call, done by cancel status feedback in printk...

don't know as i dont test it.

I will try if i got some time (access conflict to tv ;-))

but the tip is for better autonomy and mobility. if the notebook is cloded to tv, you can plug to AC and keep ati on.
