U41-70 won't turn on

2016-02-02, 21:06 PM

Hi,

When I click on the power button, nothing happens - the computer won't start and there are no lights (not even keyboard light).

I tried long pressing the power button/ novo button.

I heard that taking off the battery might help at other laptops - but here it isn't removable.

Thanks

Hi Gosu,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

I’m sorry to hear that U41-70 Laptop is not powering on.

Having No POST, No Power might mean that the motherboard or the DC-IN cable that connects the charging port into the motherboard might have gone defective. This scenarios usually requires you to send the unit in for service and it should be covered under the warranty (only if laptop is in warranty).

Hence please visit to nearest service center for hardware assistance.

Note: As per the Lenovo policy, the warranty will be void if the laptop is dismantled by yourself. Hence requesting you to be careful on doing any changes to the system.

Do post us back if the issue still persists.

Regards,

Shashi Kumar

Re: U41-70 won't turn on

Hi,

I also had a problem where my Lenovo U41-70 cannot turn on.

I just bought the laptop almost one month and suddenly last week, it cannot turn on.

Then I brought it to the repair center and they just performed power reset and everything goes back to normal.

However, after two days, it cannot turn on again.

What is the cause actually?

I didn't bought this laptop just to go back and forth to the center. It's wasting my time. I asked for changing to a new laptop but they said they can only allowed it in 7 days after purchased.

What should I do?

I have a similar problem, my U41 is not starting. My major concern is data. I hope no data will be lost in this process of getting it repaired at the service centre?
Please help me

I guess i was correct. I didn't touch my U41-70 for around 20 days or so.........the problem got corrected itself. My laptop is working perfectly fine.

So let me summarize:

Problem: I connected battery bank to USB for charging and then it didn't even start. probably the fuse is gone.

Solution: Let it keep idle for few days so that fuse gets connected back, which it does automatically. Meanwhile battery will drain so after 20 days connect the charger, charge it a bit and it will be good as new.

Lesson: keep battery bank away from U41-70

Also thanks to Lenovo Support team for contacting!

@Padmaranjan Have you tried keeping it ideal for a week or two? because that gives time to fuse to repaire. If not, i suggest not to even touch your laptop for 10 days and examine after that and take any decision.

Nothing new to add realy, other than I pluged in a small mini qube camera into the USB port then turned it on & nothing! After about 10 mins it started fine, so it wuld suggest that an internal fuse/thermal breaker was tripprd with the load & has reset itself, lets hope.
