U410 touch (Windows 8.1) -Intel Rapid Start Technology

2014-02-08, 21:03 PM

I started having trouble a few days ago when my laptop crashed and on starting up, gave me an error message stating that 'Intel Rapid Start Technology is not enabled'. The system also began crashing everytime it went to sleep (and the start up took a bit longer than before). Each time I started the laptop up, the same error message popped up.

At one point during start up, a blue screen came up stating there was a 'Driver power state error'

I've manually updated all my drivers just incase (didn't work).

On trying to install the latest 'Intel Rapid Start Technology Driver', it fails, giving the error message: 'This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for insatlling the software'.

I eventally uninstalled 'Intel Rapid Start Technology' (from the control panel) and the error message (first paragraph) stopped popping up.

The laptop is still unable to sleep without crashing.

Any ideas?

Or should I wait around and hope the next round of updates sorts everything out? (any idea how lond that would take?)

Customer support (when I call) suggest that i just wait for an update that sorts it out (or switch back to windows 8). It's been ages though (still annoying having to keep shutting down).

Any luck with you @spongeyy?

I think that Intel Rapid Start Technology Drive needs a SSD to work. Do you have one?

I receive the same error on 510, and on device manager I have an unknon device that is related to the rapid start technology, but I dont have a SSD.

I have been having this problem for months - I ended up making my laptop never sleep (hibernates instead).

Any solutions since?

Lenovo don't seem serious about this problem -  there have been no driver updates since October 2013, and if the problem is of a different nature, customer service does not seem to want to consider it.

Its a pity, the machine would be great if only the ssd and sleep function worked.
