U410 touchpad Driver stops working

2013-02-23, 17:47 PM

I bought a new U410--  i7--- windows 8.

The touchpad stops working after some time .. then I have to reboot the system to again get it up & running.

then it again works fine for some time ... And again goes off..!!!

If I open the mouse properties from control panel when it stops working ... It says me to uninstall the tochpad driver and install a new one ... I have installed or updated the synaptic driver several time ... But no optput

Moreover , I ordered a replacement for it .. and the new one also has the same problems ...!!!

I have also tried the One-Key recovery option ... but No Output..!!

Lenovo techsupport is also unable to get to the problem .. and rectify it ..!!

Can anyone help me on this ... ??

PS: what has happened to lenovo's quality ..

Most likely you're experiencing this issue when starting Microsoft Office (I did too)

Here's how to fix it

1.

Download the 16.3.9.0 driver from here

http://www.station-drivers.com/page/Synaptics.htm

2.

uninstall your current synaptics driver and reboot when it asks you to (your touchpad will still work, just without gestures and it will move slower than before)

3.

Install the new driver and restart if it asks you to

4.

Go to the mouse properties and the synaptics tab and adjust the touchpad to your liking

(here will be 2 devices listed, clicking the settings of one of them brings up manufacturer information, the other will bring up configuration)

5.

No more nonworking driver :)

just so you know, resuming from sleep will cause the synaptics driver icon to appear in your taskbar even if you have disabled it from appearing there, but it will go away automatically

and also, the 4-finger flick option in the configuration settings will not work, but everything else should

message me if you need assistance

Just put the synaptics driver .exe file in your autostart folder. Hopefully it should work.

I had the same problem, but i found a solution.

Every time you use a ms office application, your synaptics will crash, theres no remedy for that until microsoft makes a new update that fixes that or something.

However you can get the synaptics(touchpad features) again, just go to task manager(press Ctrl+Alt+Delete) look for synaptics in background procceses and press right click, open file location, and then double click SynTPEnh, and your touchpad features should be working again.
