U430p Win10 Creators problem when close lid

Just installed Win10 Creators.....

PROBLEM: When I close the lid on my Lenovo U430p then open the lid, all the open windows on my desktop get resized and re-positioned to the left of the screen. It's like the resolution is changing when I close the lid, then changing back when I open it. Fo a split second while opening, I can see the screen has shrunk to the top left corner of the screen.

I have the settings to do NOTHING when I close the lid. So the computer is NOT set to sleep and is NOT set to turn the monitor off when closing the lid.

Tried downgrading to official drivers from Lenovo site 19.18.13.5324

Tried updating manually to latest INTEL version 20.19.15.4624

So that's three different versions that all have the same problem.....

Any comments or solutions?

Re: U430p Win10 Creators problem when close lid

Hello Tzr916

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

Try to download the Video and Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.

Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.

Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.

(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)
1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Re: U430p Win10 Creators problem when close lid

In addition to krakken, Do you have an external monitor attached?

It sounds like Windows is changing resolutions briefly when you cycle the lid. Not sure why, though.

Shot in the dark, but try disabling the power savings options in Intel graphics control panel?

Click here to download latest NVidia driver.

Update us how it goes.

I can see for a split second while opening the lid that entire desktop picture has shrunk to the top left corner of the screen, then it all pops to fill the whole screen but the open programs/windows are all resized and shifted left.

No external monitor connected.

Not nvidia gpu. It's Intel. Tried 3 different version drivers.

Re: U430p Win10 Creators problem when close lid

In the Display Settings, set the scaling slider to 100%.

In the advanced settings, I clicked Set A Custom Scaling Level; and set THIS to 150%.

And now the scaling seems just like setting the slider to 150% ... but there will be no resolution switching! No windows jump around, and nothing strange seems to happen!

Update us how it goes.

Re: U430p Win10 Creators problem when close lid

Yes, I do use 150% scaling....

But when I tried what you suggested, it actually made things worse! The windows shrink even more.

Still looking for a solution.
