U430p speakers not working, but earphones do

2016-01-27, 2:03 AM

Hello

I have a U430p, the speakers don't give any sound. The speaker test shows the green bar working though. All checks show that it is working properly, but I cannot hear any sound. But when i plug in the earphones, I can hear the sound very well. Could anybody please help me fix this problem?

Thanks much!

Hi F,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

If this is a software concern, Earphones should produce the same problem. If hardware, then your earphone should produce sound on left and right. So i strongly believe that this is a Hardware Concern, Probably something loose in the connection of the speakers. Hence I would suggest you to visit nearest authorised Lenovo service center for hardware concern.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Shashi Kumar

Hi F,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

We are really sorry to hear about the issue you are facing.

Follow the below steps:

In your notification panel, right click the speaker > playback device. Right click the speaker you want and set it to default device. It should be High Definition Audio Device.

If this doesn't work, then go to device manager. Uninstall and reinstall the sound drivers. Click here for latest audio drivers.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Shashi Kumar

Welcome to the Lenovo Community f2003066 !

One additional suggestion....... if you ocassionally use your headphones and then the laptop's speakers stopped working, try inserting and removing the plug for your headphones several times into the headphone port. Sometimes the electrical contacts inside the audio port get stuck in the headphone position.

Your speakers might be dead. The right speaker failed on my U430 Touch. Bought a pair from ebay for about $12 and replaced the failed one. Never had a laptop speaker go bad before and judging by the number of complaints about failed speakers on this forum, there seems to be a quality issue with these,
