U530 Touch Laptop (ideapad) Wireless Adapter Upgrade

How do I upgrade the wireless adapter from an N type to something that can support a higher download speed?

Re: U530 Touch Laptop (ideapad) Wireless Adapter Upgrade

Hi lacord01 ,

Greetings.

Checking on the hardware manual (item 12 page 63) for OEM recommended WLAN card but seems do not offer faster AC 5Ghz card. Modifying BIOS would be risky to remove the whitelist for the model.

12 WLAN 2x2 BGN+BT4.0 Intel 7260BN 2x2BN+BT PCIE HMC20200412 N
12 WLAN Cbt BCM943228HMB 2x2ABGN+BT4.0 HMC 20200221 N
12 WLAN Liteon WB222 2x2ABGN+BT4.0 HMC 20200225 N

Other claims for upgrade on this discussion. Having a spare to test would be handy but can not guarantee it since it is outside OEM recommendation. Otherwise using an external USB AC wlan adapter can still be an option.

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards
