can't connect to wireless router

2009-12-17, 8:54 AM

i just bought a lenovo ideapad s10-2.  while it can connect to any wireless, it cannot connet to my linksys wireless router in our house.  there is no problem if i attach the ethernet cable but if i want a wireless connection it cannot connect.  what seems to be the problem, is it my netbook or is it the router? btw, my fujitsu laptop can connect easily with the router, but not the lenovo.  pls help.

I had similar problems.

Our 3 Lenovo's could not log-in to my D-Link wireless router.

Other notebook brands easily logged-in.

And my S10 had no problem with other routers.

Just quickly give this a try ...

Go into your wireless setup.

Delete the name of your wireless network that the S10 found.

Uncheck "Find Network" or "Log-in Automatically", or something like that.

Then manually type in the exact name of your network, and the password.

Wish I could be more specific, but I no longer have my S10

or an XP machine to refer to.

Make sure your router is set to broadcast wireless name/id and that it doesn't have 'access list' or similar enabled (or if it does, find the MAC addr of your Lenovos wifi card and enter into the routers allow list).

And, as others have said, make sure windows is using the correct details by manually entering them.

Make sure it's using the correct encryption protocol as well.

Re: can't connect to wireless router

Could someone be more plain and simple like me. I have 2 emachines, 2 Tosiba Laptops, 2 HP pavilions and they all connect to D-Link Draft N router. After 6 hours talking to the Phillipines, neither Lenovo or DLink could help me. Each blamed the other. Amazingly, they were probably in the same room because thier phone #'s were different on the last 4 digits only.

I have been able to connect at the local McDonalds down the street witn on problem so I assume it is the router but I can't figure it out.

Step by step instruction would be soooooo well appreciated!

reset your modem and try.

connected to modem? or just not connected to internet?

make sure you entered the password is correct.

and which security method are you using, wep or wpa2?

if you have installed readycom application, un-install and try again.

and which operation system do you use?

( there's knowing issue with windows 7 )

updating model firmware also may help you.

Re: can't connect to wireless router

Hi,

I  encountered the same problem laptop (S10-3) detects wireless access point but cannot connect.

For me, what solved the problem was changing the Wireless Channel Broadcast of the Router

into Channel 6 (or lower). Your router should have these options under the wireless settings.

As reference, I set mine before to Channel 13 (scanned the neighbors and saw that this channel

is not crowded hehehe) and my desktop wireless can connect successfully but the S10-3 cannot.

So I changed it to broadcast at Channel 7, can connect but limited connectivity. Finally changed

to Channel 6 and S10-3 connected successfully with Interenet :smileyhappy:

  Hope this helps.

Regards :smileyhappy:

I have a similar problem, however my S10-2 connects to my US Robotics wireless network when in full operating system but when I go in quick start mode it does not even see my network, have tried putting access code again in QS mode but no luck.
