If you're fine with Mac OS then I'd say that's a good move. The only disadvantage to the macbook is the non-user replaceable battery, but it's not like that matters when you can't get another battery for the U330 anyway.

On the Macbook Pro remember that while it does support virtualiztion and a Windows environment (using software or Bootcamp dual-booting) your battery life when running Windows will be about half or even less than you'd get running Snow Leopard. This is because Apple won't issue updated/energy efficient drivers for many of the high power draw system components. (Otherwise, everyone would go buy a Macbook, clear out OS X and install windows only!!)

yes, the user battery not replaceable is a problem but its battery life is arnd 6 hrs with MacOS and arnd 5 hrs in Vista (as per notebookreview.com review). So i guess, it'll last good 2-3 yrs before it get reduced to 1hr or so, that's when time to change is for me...that's good enough for me..

btw 5hr is good enough battery life dude...u could very well just use windows in it..

Wow, 5hrs is not bad at all. I'd heard it was half that or worse. I need to check in to that.

Re: poor battery life on U330

I just installed Windows 7 (it's available on MSDN, which is available to me through my university). Changed from Discrete Graphics to Switchable Graphics upon installation, it had to reinstall a new graphics driver and restart.

Under my display adapters, it now lists Mobile Intel(R) 45 Express Chipset Family, however I can no longer adjust screen brightness and thus, at 85% it says I have 1:25 of battery life.

I can wait until October 20th, the official launch day of Windows 7 to hopefully see a working driver available on this page: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?subcategoryind=0&familyind=430815&brandind=10&doccategoryind=0&modelind=430850&doctypeind=9&validate=true&partnumberind=0&sitestyle=lenovo&template=%2Fproductpage%2Flandingpages%2FproductPageLandingPage.vm&operatingsystemind=466024&machineind=430849

But I'm not holding my breath.

If hybrid graphic is not set correctly (2 gfx cards in device properties), the battery life is very bad as both cards run at the same time...

u330 seven 64 with hybrid gfx

You should install vista gfx drivers ; as they are obsolete, you must choose drivers manually when installing from device manager thru Driver update menu, choose location, c:\drivers\ati, choose in list etc....

good luck

Unless there was some LEGAL requirement AND somebody sued Lenovo for it (and won, obviously), I have my doubts Lenovo would put in an effort in providing continued support for the U330.  Windows 7 runs at least an hour on the U330 right? :mansad:

Community support is a fine thing, but it's quite an uphill battle when the manufacturer keeps the details, or witholds selling spare batteries..

It shouldn't be this hard, and if Lenovo had put in the tiniest effort it wouldn't be.
