Re: my s10 booting taking too long

Hi Shiroisme,

If you have tried re-installing different Operating systems and you still get very slow boot times, then it suggests the Hard disk is having problems. Check that you still have the RAM memory you expect to have. If you have installed 1.5GB or 2GB RAM - is that was the BIOS tells you is there? IF you have the correct memory, check that the CPU speed is set to 'best performance'. If this is also the case then run the lenovo diagnostics to see if the hard drive is working ok and does not have read / write or other performance errors.
It is also possible that you have a boot partition virus, so when you re-install the Operating system, you may need to ensure you re-format totally and create a new partition table (this is most unlikely but it is a thought - esp if you machine got gradually slower).

Re: my s10 booting taking too long

Hi and welcome,

check boot sequence in BIOS
BOOT Sequence should be look like this
1. USB DVD/CD
2. USB Harddrive
3. HDD (internal)

Configuration Site in BIOS
setting for SATA is AHCI not compatible mode (slow)

be shure you didnt have any peripheral device plugged in (USB DVD/CD Burner) ..
a mailfunction or inserted dvd that could not boot , could invoke a seek loop...

you could approve the harddrive with Lenovo Hard Drive Quick Test
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-70578

if there is a malfunction or error with your HDD  ...
call your local service
