it seems OK on win8, but on win7 I prefered, the display is so dim even at max bright. Anyone has a solution for this? I tried reinstall win7, update amd driver and right now doing a win xp install, hopefully amd driver works on win xp.

I've tried that to no avail. I've tried both the Win7 and Win8 drivers on the Lenovo site, and the newest update from AMD. I'm running Windows 7... the laptop came with Windows 8, but I formatted and installed 7. I've also looked in the BIOS for any changable settings.
It's WAY too dim and I can't find an answer anywhere, but at least I'm not alone. I'll seriously consider returning the system if I can't get it worked out.

This is EXACTLY the problem I have and what I did.
Lenovo needs to fix this problem ASAP!! Everything else works, but I can't work with a screen that suddenly became 30% of it's max brightness at all times.....

I truely can not believe we are all having such a ridiculous problem trying to get something as simple as a Windows 7 install to PROPERLY work. I can only hope that Lenovo monitors these boards and fixes this issue before I run out of time and must return this machine for a brand that I know will work with Win 7.
I can CONFIRM that neither the Win 8 drivers for Power Mgmt or Chipset work in Win 7. Please Lenovo, FIX the Win 7 Chipset Driver.

So I recently bought a Lenovo S400 that came with Windows 8 for someone.
However, he didn't like Windows 8 so I installed Windows 7 on it. After installing all the driver, the screen for some reason got darker. It seems like the lowerst the screen brightness can go and the hightest the screen brightness can go got lowered. When i drag brightness level to minimum the screen is totaly black, some problems with brightness range!. I thought it may have been a driver issues so I uninstalled and reinstalled all of the driver without any luck. So I just formmated the computer again but still no luck. Same bright in BIOS.
All drivers from lenovo site, for Win7 x64.
Does anybody have any solutions for this?

Hi, just got my S400 and windows 8 got me sick too. tought about switching to windows 7 but read about the problem.
I'd like to try this for myself. Will installing windows 7 break the one-key-recovery? Im not sure how the hidden partition get booted, so im wondering if this will damage it.
