@NINE - Thank you! Looking forward to an update!

@amirue - The settings are maxed out. That is the issue. Max setting results in about a 50% screen brightness.

can you check if the issue persists with external monitor if you can? there may be hardware issue (lcd) or something like that if the brightness is ok to change at the external monitor.

Hello Yigit,

Seeing this model has no VGA connector, the only thing I could really do is use the HDMI to a flat panel. Which, when doing that, results in the brightness controls on the laptop having no effect and relying on the image controls on the falt panel itself.

I am convinced this is a driver issue, not a hardware issue based on the fact that when I install Win 8 brightness functions fine. When I install Win 7 brightness is fine UNTIL I install the Chipset/Video driver combo.

Once you "Break" the brightness in Win 7, it seems even uninstalling drivers isn't a fix. I have to revert back to Win 8 to regain Max brightness. Which leads me to believe the Win 7 driver is creating a "false max brightness" scenario which is not corrected until the Win 8 driver comes back along and restores the "brightness ceiling".

Based on my 20 year tech industry background, I feel I have done more troubleshooting and work around attempts then the average consumer would be expected to do. Based on my findings, and numerous others on various sites, most signs point to faulty driver.

installing the windows 8 drivers on windows 7 (if you can) may fix the issue. also, please, check the updates from intel.com (graphic card) they may have the latest drivers.

Tried installing Win 8 drivers on Win 7. The power management driver seems to load fine. Unfortunately doesnt fix the issue. I believe it is in the Chipset/Video driver combo, which unfortunately the Win 8 one doesnt load in Win 7.

Also, did try the drivers directly from the AMD site and same results. I appreciate your suggestions as they are all valid. Im trying to answer each one so people searching the web can find some good info and save some time and headaches.

You mentioned the intel site... I just realized this machine came in a few different versions it appears. One intel based and one AMD based. I have the AMD based machine FYI for people viewing this thread. Does anyone have the intel based machine? And are you experiencing the same issues? Curious if its limited to the AMD chipset, which I believe we will find it is. Just my thought since at the time the intel machine was released it came with Win 7 as opposed to Win 8.

On a side note, I love this AMD chip! I was quite surprised to find I can take some games on the go, which I have never had a good experience with integrated graphics. I have loaded Diablo III, WoW, L4D2, Family Guy Multiverse, CoD BO2, and DIshonored. All play excellent. Granted not at full settings, but not at minimum either which has usually been whats required for integrated graphics. This had eased my disappointment in this whole Win 7 brightness issue a little bit :)

have you tried to change the brightness under nvidia/amd/intel graphic card control panel?
