Re: s405/s400 screen brightness issue after downgrading to windows 7

Wow just discovered this particularly nasty little suprise in the Ideapad.

I find Windows 8 to be a horrible OS and I'm certainly not alone.  Not supporting WIndows 7 on your PC hardware is like not supporting OSX on Apple computers.  I guess I will have to RMA this and buy a competing product from a manufacturer who actually provides proper driver support.

My first and last time buying anything from Lenovo.

It's just a shame that nobody from Lenovo is even offering an apology for this......

My idea pad is a fabulous piece of kit and it looks great. It's a shame they force you to use a second rate operating system.

Massively disappointed to say the least.

Re: s405/s400 screen brightness issue after downgrading to windows 7

Sadly, the only solution is to suck it up and go back to W8. I personally find 8.1 to be very snappy.  After installing a start button program, along with disabling the charm bar, it's not bad at all. The only down side is that once you install the latest AMD drivers, the brightness will not adjust; only install stock drivers. Oh yea, and remember to never by Lenovo again.

Wouldn't mind going back to Windows 8 but how? The product key is in UEFI BIOS but HDD is stuck in non-UEFI mode.
