Cannot launch remote console because tier level value is invalid.

When we are trying to connect to the remote console through xClarity Administrator to an SR650 or SR850 we are getting this error message.

 

Cannot launch remote console because tier level value is invalid. Please contact the administrator.

 

Older System-X servers work fine.

 

We checked the licenses on the BMC. We have advanced and enterprise enabled there.

 

Does anybody know what we are doing wrong?

Hi Mike,

 

Older systems have IMMv2 and use CIM calls i.e. System x servers.

The new Purley systems (ThinkSystems) are IMMv3 and use redfish for some rest api calls.

 

There were some fixes put into the XCC firmware around 4/2018 to fix the redfish authentication failures, which would affect trying to use remote control to a IMMv3 system..

 

Make sure you are at the latest firmware version. Check https://datacentersupport.lenovo.com for your systems.

 

If it fails once, try again and see if it goes through. Otherwise, open a support ticket:
