Hello nn2211,

It is possible to set the admin password without the old password using OneCLI:

How to set or change the UEFI Admin password using Lenovo XClarity Essentials Windows OneCLI

Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Hi Sir,

The XClarity Controller is set initially with a user name of USERID and password of PASSW0RD (with a zero, not the letter O). If the password has never been changed, please log in with the default password. For the password change, you can either reset XCC to the factory default. (See this article),  or use the IPMI command if the installed OS on your server is Linux version (See this post). Once the XCC password is set, use the method that @JVOSS2 provided to reset the UEFI password.

Hi thank you again;

Actually the XCC default password has changed as i told you that's why i can't use this command: "OneCLI config set IMM.UefiAdminPassword <”new password”> --bmc username:password@ipaddress "

also i can't log into the uefi to reset the xcc password as i mentioned before and i can't use ipmi commands cuz the os is windows server 2019.

Hi Sir,

OneCli is able to use on the host server. Refer to this article: How to install Lenovo XClarity Essentials OneCLI on Windows

Please download OneCLI, extract to the local directory. Run OneCLI with administrator privileges, and then run OneCli.exe config set IMM.UefiAdminPassword <new password> to set a new password. Restart the server. After that, you can access LXPM or UEFI setup page to perform XCC restore to factory default action.

Please note, the password must meet the following requirements:

Re:SR630 server LXPM Administrator password reset

Hello nn2211,

If you do not have the admin password or the BMC then I'm afraid there isn't a simple way to fix this.

Recently, someone posted a way to resolve this using BOMC. This method allows you to reset the BMC and once that is done you can use the OneCLI method I provided.

Here is the post for reference:

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkSystem/Reset-UEFI-without-BMC-access-for-SR630/m-p/5080342?page=1#5333549

And the steps that were provided in the post:

  1. download the bootable USB tool BOMC
  2. follow and fill in the required steps
  3. when asked, choose to save as an image
  4. when you have an image use a tool like "Rufus" to create your bootable USB
  5. with jumper settings on the locked out bmc (in my case primary) start the server with USB connected
  6. let the machine finish post and it will boot into BOMC without asking for admin password
  7. choose "advanced options"
  8. choose "load UEFI/BMC defaults"
  9. reset UEFI
  10. reset BMC
  11. restart server
  12. BMC is now accessible and we can follow the OneCli procedure provided in this link to reset our UEFI admin password

I would probably ignore step 5 since you haven't mentioned messing with the jumpers I can only assume it is set to boot to the locked-out BMC already.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Hi Sir,

Please download the latest BoMC version from here.

The BoMC v11.5.1 or later version supports diagnostics feature, please download the latest version and give it a shot.

When you create the bootable media you should have an option to select "full" under media purpose. This particular image will give you a text-based menu that will allow you to select advanced and follow the rest of the directions.
