Power Button Blinking White Light

Recently my Yoga C740-15IML Laptop would not power on.

No damage was done, no spills, just confused!

I plugged in the power cord, but it only blinks after charging for 24 hours. The power button will not light up.

I've powered down, held the power button for 1 minute while unplugged.

I've opened it, disconnected the battery. When I reconnect the battery the fan spins, it lights up for 1 second and nothing after that.

Not sure if I need a new battery. I've only used this thing for 1 year!

Has anyone had this issue and knows of a fix?

Did the machine somehow went on a BIOS update or Windows update prior to this issue?

Here are some troubleshooting steps I can share for your machine that you may perform and also identify what is the issue of your laptop right now.

- Remove all cables connected to the device (power cable, hdmi, external mouse, external keyboard, etc)
- Be sure device is switched off / powered off
- Press and hold down the power button for 60 seconds
- When done, re-attach all cables
- Attach the  ac adapter and let the unit charge for about couple of minutes
- Locate your machine's Novo button from the either sides. Check this knowledge base showing how it would look like: https://support.lenovo.com/ph/en/solutions/ht062552-introduction-to-novo-button-ideapad
- Click this by using an unfolded paperclip or anything similar that would fit.
- Machine should power up and boot straight to Novo Menu.
**Or you can just power up the laptop after connecting the ac adapter.

Here are the things to identify.

It would be a 'no power' issue if the machine showed no signs of power light indicator at all. Either from the power button or from nearby port lights and there is no sign of fan running. It is also a no power issue if laptop showed lights but died eventually, no signs of fan as well.

The case at hand would be a 'no p.o.s.t.' issue, if the machine has power light indicators active but did not proceed on booting to Windows or until the log in screen. If this happens, try to continuously tap on the capslock/numlock key if the light on these two keys would respond. If the capslock/numlock light key is unresponsive after consecutive taps, it simply means that the unit had problem performing a p.o.s.t. process and that the system board no longer recognizes any external hardware command. This case would be a sign for an internal hardware failure.

If the issue falls under no power or no post, I suggest it would be best to have this reported to the technical support team in your region or consult and nearby service facility.

Regards.
