Yoga Slim 7i Aura - Lnvadaptivebrightness process taking up CPU

Hello,

I have a small issue with my Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition, sometimes the process lnvadaptivebrightness.exe, which is part of Lenovo Display Enhancement driver, starts taking up 3 to 4 percent of the CPU with no apparent reason, only a reboot fixes the issue. This obviously is an issue because it prevents the CPU from clocking down fully, even when idle.

Is there a solution to this? Can you clarify the specific purpose of this background process?

Hi camozza,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community!

I'm sorry to read about the issue you're experiencing on your Yoga Slim 7 Aura Edition laptop. May I ask, when did it start to happen? Also, were there any changes or updates that's been made on the device before it occur?

The lnvadaptivebrightness.exe process is part of the Lenovo Display Enhancement driver, which is designed to optimize your display settings, including adaptive brightness adjustments based on ambient light conditions. However, it should not consistently consume a significant amount of CPU resources.

Here are a few steps you can take to address this issue:

  1. Update Drivers and Lenovo Vantage: Ensure that all your drivers, including the Lenovo Display Enhancement driver, are up to date. You can do this through the Lenovo Vantage App. This app will help you monitor system health and update drivers.

  2. Check for Windows Updates: Sometimes, Windows updates can resolve compatibility issues. Make sure your operating system is fully updated.

  3. Adjust Adaptive Brightness Settings:

    • Open the Lenovo Vantage app.
    • Navigate to the "Device" section and then to "Display & Camera."
    • Disable the adaptive brightness feature to see if this resolves the CPU usage issue.
  4. Reinstall the Display Enhancement Driver:

    • Uninstall the current Lenovo Display Enhancement driver from the Device Manager.
    • Restart your laptop.
    • Reinstall the driver from the Lenovo support site by clicking here.
  5. Check for Background Processes: Sometimes, other background processes can interfere with the adaptive brightness feature. Use Task Manager to identify and manage these processes.

Hope this helps you out. Let us know what will happen.

Thanks,
Adriel_Lenovo

My Yoga Air 15 Aura Edition has this problem, too.

I've tried all the ways above, but problem cannot be solved.

So now I have to end the lenovoadaptivebrightness process

I think Lenovo should update the driver to solve it.

The only solution which worked for me was to deactivate all the corresponding services:

- Lenovo Process Management service

- Lenovo Vision Service

- Lenovo Display Enhancement Service

Additionally i deactivated the SmartSense service (which de-/activates your laptop when you are around) and the services for the "Tap2Connect feature"

- Elabs AI Virtual Tap-to-connect API Service

- Elliptic Labs Smart Sensor Platform System Service

as i dont need them.

With these services deactivated (and rebooted), i got a very silent experience, without unnessary processes running.

I experienced the same.

The issue is, that the lenovo display enhancement process (LNV_DES.exe) is not only used by the Display Enhancement Service but also by the Lenovo Process Management service (LNVDispatcherService.exe).

So you need to deactivate both services to get rid of the Display Enhancement process.

Which worked for me quite well.
