2018-09-30, 14:12 PM

my 920 goes from 20% battery to 4% without warning and shuts down without warning. Is the battery bad?

Hi Jeffla,

Welcome to the community forums.

Based on the report that you sent, it is possible that the battery is failing, but we still suggest to run a battery gauge reset using the Lenovo Vantage tool that you may download here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht505081

If still does the same, then you have replace the battery. If the laptop is still in warranty, we suggest contacting our local support: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/supportphonelist for battery replacement.

In the current version of the Lenovo Vantage app, I do not see an option to calibrate the battery.

Spoke with support, they are having me send in the laptop. Hoping they can also address the wobble, speakers that sometimes don't work and my broken USB A port. This laptop and I have not had a good run.

I'm seeing the same thing right now.

Battery gets to about 35% and then suddenly dies. No warnings or anything at all. Complete hard shutdown. And then when i plug in the laptop and reboot, it shows zero battery.

I notice the same issue.  The percentage might show 15% or so, then before I can even reach for the cord to plug it in it has turned off.  My laptop is 2 1/2 years old.  It seems like the battery life of this laptop (like every one I've owned) doesn't perform to what is advertised.  That being said, I am just going to change my notification so I have more time to plug in!
