About to buy a Y2P? Look at the discount I came across.

2013-11-25, 19:56 PM

So I just bought this computer 5 min ago from BestBuy.com

I bought the i7, 256 ssd, 8gb DDR3L ram model.

Got $50 off an i7 computer using: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Global/College-Student-Deals/pcmcat276200050000.c?id=pcmcat276200050000

The coupon will be emailed to you after you confirm your .edu email address.

The coupon sent expired yesterday and reactivates in December after the whole Black Friday Fiasco. However, I was able to still use the coupon without a problem (even though it is technically no longer "active").

In addition, bestbuy.com automatically threw in Kaspersky Internet Security - 3-Device - 1 Year - Mac/Windows [Download], for free when I added the laptop to the cart. Also all computer purchased now till x-mas comes with:

Intel Software Starter Pack - Windows [Digital Download]

--PowerDirector 12 Deluxe
--PhotoDirector 5 Ultra
--PowerDVD 13 Deluxe
--YouCam 5 Standard
--StageLight
--Grid Il
--Total War: Rome II
--Star Chart
--The Music Experiment 2.0 (created by Intel and MTV IGGY)
--Snowflake Entertainment Edition.
***Many of the titles are touch-screen–enabled.

I also applied for the Discover 5% cash back on all online purchases last night.

Using Discover, I am also able to double my warranty (comes as a card benifit).

So the total damage was:

1. A Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro (4th gen i7, 256 ssd, 8gb DDR3L ram)
2. 2 year warranty
3. Kaspersky Internet Security - 3-Device - 1 Year - Mac/Windows
4. Intel Software Starter Pack - Windows [Digital Download]

5. Nitro PDF Pro (came preinstalled, not crapware :D)

All for $1,230.49 (with tax, -$50 student coupon) - $57.50 (5% discover cash back) - $20 (BB reward giftcard for $1000+ purchase) - $17.25 (ebates 1.5% cash back on BB.com purchases)= $1135.74

If you got a better deal, please post below. I for one won't mind canceling my order in favor of more saving.

I hope this post can save people some $$$.

This is a very good deal indeed. You won't find a lower price for an i7 model, but the i5 ones should be below $1000 around BF/CM.

Since you're using a Discover card:

-10% off using ShopDiscover at Lenovo (there is also a 5% ShopDiscover discount for BestBuy, but it does not apply to laptops)

-5% off for shopping online this quarter

Which gets my i3 yoga 2 down below $800.

Lenovo also has discounts for students, at least on some models.

The downside is that Lenovo is backed up on orders - mine is scheduled for 12/30

Not bad. Only downside with the Lenovo store is that the i7 comp I bought was $100 more. Plus I had a $50 off coupon for best buy. That alone is $150 savings. Plus with the 5% cash back, I banked more than $200 in saving when compared to the Lenovo store. That does not include ebates, myrewards, and all the free software I got. Added to that, my folks were able to pick it up 5 hours after purchase (unfortunately, I will not return to the states till the 21st, so I can't enjoy the laptop as of yet) :(.

Also, the beauty of it all is that if something goes south, I can always go back to the store and exchange it. No need to RMA or wait another 3 months for a new one to be sent to me.
