Accelerometer problem on yoga 730 15 (maybe)

2019-01-30, 12:20 PM

Hello, I have problem on my yoga 730 15

My yoga stuck in tent mode(I guass) when I use it as normal laptop mode.

The touch pad and internal keyboard aren't working, and the auto rotaition fuction does not work either.

So I think maybe the sensor for flip angle and  autorotation of the yoga have a problem.

I used "SensorInfo" app in Microsoft Store, and the accelerometer and orientation sensor show abnormal results

The value of orientation sensor is constant, and the a accelerometer shows no value. I attached the image of SensorInfo.

Do you have ideas?

Thank you for reading.

I had this problem when the YMC (Yoga Mode Control)-service was disabled, try to enable it again by running services.msc. Double-klick on YMC and choose "startup type > automatic". I hope this helps. :)

Hello!

I checked YMC. Sadly, It was already set as automatic.

I really appreciate your reply!

No problem. :) I would love to help you, but It is kind of hard to know without checking out your computer. Is YMC currently running? Have a look at "TaskManager > Processes > ymc" or "Task Manager > Services > YMC"

if you can't find it, head back to services.msc, choose "YMC", right-click and select "Start". But yeah this service is generally what enables disables the keyboard/trackpad and rotate the screen depending on screen position. I don't have the Yoga 730 myself (I have the 530 with Ryzen) but it seems if they are using the same software for the "Yoga functionality"

I hope you will find a solution. you can always rotate the screen manually in the graphics settings, but that doesn't really help the disabled keyboard and trackpad. :\

by the way, Sorry! I didn't see the first post with the sensor-thing and accelerometer! The accelerometer could potentially be malfunctioning, or perhaps windows drivers for it. Worst case scenario is basically doing a factory reset on the computer. I usually tell myself, "If solving the issue takes more than 6hours, a clean factory reset tend to be the quicker solution"

I know it's not what you want to hear. Hopefully some other helpful forum member has more experience with your issue.

This helped me too

Hello!

I tried a factory reset sevral times, but it didn't work.

However, a few hours ago, It fixed magically and I don't know how I fixed it.

Maybe the factory reset and driver updates fixed it.

Thank you!
