I bought a Yoga 920 about 6 weeks ago and have been loving it, largely because of the touch screen and pen features. However, I've had to replace the batteries in my Active Pen 2 twice already--they are not getting anywhere near the advertised 2000 hours of battery life, I would say they are dying after more like 50-100 hours of active use (I generally only use the pen to read and comment on documents for work).
Are there any settings to improve battery life? Should I not be storing it near the laptop? Is my pen defective? What can I do about this?

Welcome to the Community Forums.
I assume that it was the AAAA battery that you have replaced and not the coin shape. In this situation, usually the active tip consumes the charge so preventing it from touching any surface is ideal.
Perhaps keeping it in holder or even a DIY protective cap can help if you do not like removing the battery when not in use. Another factor is heat so keeping the pen in cooler place is suggested.
Take note that if you feel that the battery is unusually hot when you remove it, I suggest you call in technical support for in-warranty intervention specially if you already been keeping the pen tip away from touching any surface and is in cool storage.
I hope this helps answer your query.

If you search for Bluetooth then you may be able to select the bluetooth pen to disable. In part of the pen, there is no off button to do it so removing the battery may be an option.
