Advice from Yogo 2 Pro owners / Wifi issue

2014-03-10, 21:33 PM

I just received a Yogo 2 Pro purchased from the outlet. I have been unable to connect to wifi (does not recognize anyconnections). Spent about 45 minutes tech support and they could not resolve problem. They told me to return unit for repair. I am going to return system for refund.since I am in 21 day period.

Do the newer (non-outlet systems) have the wifi problems as well and/or is it an older vintage issue?

I really like the Y2P a lot, but not being able to connect reliably sucks.

Any other recommendations for similiar Lenovo styles?

Thanks

Jim

A 78 page thread should show you that you are not alone: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Windows-based-Tablets-and/Re-Yoga-2-Pro-Wifi-Problems/td-p/1452437

I have not had any issues with my Yoga 2 Pro's WiFi.  I have a Cisco E3000 at both home and work and have connected to several other networks while traveling (airports, hotels, others).

I would return it for repair or for refund and then buy another.

Mine has no issues connecting at home, coffee shops, hotels, etc.

Two things you could try:
1. a different router, maybe at a coffee shop?
2. reinstall the OS using the OneKey Recovery software

That might help determine if you have a hardware issue.

Thanks for all the input. I have tried most of the suggesstions.

Something is really wrong with mine.

I not only don't see my router connection, but I see nothing, not the normal 5 to 20 in the neighborhood either. Just blank. Bluetooth does not work either.

Starting to wish I had the poor connection problem, at least I could see a connection. Maybe I will have that problem next.

As for reloading the OS, I did several full resets, as did the Lenovo tech. The Lenovo tech tried to use the driver stored in Drive D, but there was nothing visible in Drive D, empty. Files were not hidden either..

Right now I am going return it and decide if I want to chance getting another one from the lenovo outlet.buy a new one, non outlet, but outlet prices are several hundred dollars less. I buy everything refurbished, and have had really good luck.  I guess I could just keep returning them until I get a good one. Will go to best buy today and see what they have and say

. I must admit, it is a beautiful machine. The more I fiddle with, the more I like it. Too bad it doesn't work. I could go to Best Buy and tell them I will buy one if they let me boot the new one in the store before I take it.

Thanks again, will keep you advised

Decided to give Lenovo another try. Ordered a Y2P from Lenovo store. I really hated to pay the "new" premium but at least I can easily return it if there is another problem. Also hoping that the systems there may be latest versions.

For the record, my discussion with a Best Buy rep was positive regarding YP2 poularity, returns and performance, but then I am always a bit suspicious of them when they know you like a system and are ready to buy.Turns out they did not have one in stock.
