C740 Audio not functioning, repair center says incompatible Realtek Driver

I have a YOGA C740 (15.6") running Windows 10 Home edition. The speakers, headphone socket and microphone have stopped working.

As the laptop is under warranty I sent it to a repair center, thinking it was a hardware issue.

I was told that the problem is not the hardware but Windows, and they thought that an update had installed a RealTek driver that is incompatible with the computer.

The driver version is 10.0.19041.1.

 

Has anyone else had this problem?

Which version of Windows are you on? If it's 2004, you might try rolling back to 1909.

I am unable to roll back to 1909 as 10 days have passed since the update to 2004.

There are some suggestions on a Microsoft thread that might be worth a look.  Long thread as it appears to be a popular problem. You may end up resetting the thing to factory and stopping it before it takes 2004, again. I'm not letting any of my machines take 2004. Nothing in it I need or want. Second time I've skipped a feature update. 

 

I didn't get through the entire thread as I'm short on time.
