"Audio renderer error. Please restart your computer" Does anyone NOT have this issue on their C930?

2020-07-31, 2:48 AM

About once per day my C930 can't play a video or audio and I get an error about audio not rendering, The error on youtube is "Audio renderer error. Please restart your computer."  If I try to play a music file I get "We can't fine an audio device error 0x8889000f".  I've got all of the latest drivers and every time I update from the Intel site I'm hopeful that it will be resolved, but sure enough it pops up again within a day or two. I've seen a lot of people complain about it but I haven't found a solution.  Is there anyone that doesn't have this issue?

Hi,

Welcome to the Lenovo forum community!

i suggest reinstalling, but this time, also disable windows from touching drivers, which can cause alot of issues, especially in laptops:

To do a factory reset, first you will need to make a backup of your important files to an external USB storage unit, or to an online drive.

Then you need to turn off your laptop completely, by holding down the power button for 10 seconds.

To initiate the factory reset, you need to push the tiny button located (Go Here search with your serial number, then select pane "Knowledgebase and Guides" Then find the user manual and locate the Novo buttons placement in the manual), You can use for example, a paperclip to press it, after

you have pressed the button, the laptop will power on, and present a small menu, use the arrow keys to select factory reset, and press the

enter key to select. Now follow the on screen instructions.

then:

  1. Right click the Start button and select Control Panel.
  2. Make your way to System and Security.
  3. Click System.
  4. Click Advanced system settings from the left sidebar.
  5. Select the Hardware tab.
  6. Press the Device Installation Settings button.
  7. Choose No, and then press the Save Changes button.

Then go to Lenovo.forum.com search with serial number, go to pane Drivers & Software and use the automatic driver update function.

Reboot, then update windows, this should solve the issues.

I'm expected to do a full factory reset? That's hardly an answer

The issue here is Windows replacing driver files, and a simple driver reinstall often does not solve the issue.

Can't one simply revert the specific problematic driver?

As i said, you can try, but this solution does not always work.

You need to uninstall the driver, and make sure that windows deletes the driver files, then try to reinstall the drivers from pcsupport.lenovo.com.

As i said, your milage may wary.

I'll probably try this when I have the time. Are there any users of the C930 who do not have this issue?

I doubt it. This, and the Maxim Audio processor hog, have plagued my C930 since day 1. Unacceptable software bugs for a laptop in the Macbook Air price range.

I'm assuming it's temporary or coincidental, but since the last intel driver updates a few days ago I haven't experienced the issue
