Battery Life Seems Low, New Yoga 930

2019-03-03, 16:37 PM

Do any of you have experience with the Lenovo Yoga 930 and can you tell me how long your battery is lasting?  I have brand new computer and got it set up (removed bloatware, etc).  I am only getting 4-5 hours of battery life before it needs to be charged and I'm very disappointed.  I picked the computer b/c reviews said it had good battery life.

I charge the battery fully, then unplug it and work on the computer (using pretty basic programs--word, excel, some internet browsing, NOT video or music streaming, NOT upgrading software or doing other background activities, NOT charging anything via USB at this time) and the battery drops down to 20% and says please plug it in less than 5 hours.  I've done this 5 times now, so I don't think it's just the first time use of the battery.

Any thoughts or recommendations?  Defective battery?  Thanks!

The battery is only 60Watts compared to 78Watts in the Yoga 910. My computer is a week old and I am running my screen brightness at 53%, turned on battery saver mode, stopped all background apps, prevented syncing, have no plug ins or extensions on browsers, only am looking at emails and reading info on web (no vides etc) and have been monitoring my computer for the last week. The battery seemed to lose 8-16% per 30 minutes which should equate to 5 hours; however, I plug in at 20% to prevent battery from draining too much becuase its is supposed to extend the life of the battery. Therefore I really only get 3.5-4 hours per charge on less than optimal settings. The Yoga930 just has a subpar battery.
