Black screen on Yoga 900-13ISK

Hi,

 

This morning my screen was black (but not off, the backlight works) and when I turn it on the screen works for about a second before it goes black again. I can use an external monitor. 

I have updated as much as I can, all drivers should be updated, and I ran a system check with Lenovo companion, nothing was found. I can't seem to safe mode to work on the external monitor.

Yesterday I updated Windows 10 (Cumulative update, KB3176938).

 

Can anyone help?

In response to customer reports of displays or screens turning off on Lenovo systems while in use and running on battery power, Lenovo has released a solution via update to the Intel Management Engine Firmware, v.11.0.0.1176.

 

The Intel ME Firmware can be downloaded here:http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds105001

 

Update us how it goes.

Thanks for a fast reply!

I'm having some issues installing the driver. I go through the setup and get this message:

So it sais that the driver is installed, but I get the option to install it again. If I check in device manager now the driver version is 11.5.0.1011. If I click 'finish' with the box checked it starts a different installation setup (but now in norwegian). This installation fails with the message (from norwegian): serious error during installation. I attached the log files.

Have I missed something?

Hi,

The driver is not supporting your device:

I have tried on my YOGA 900-13ISK2 SE, without result – “fatal error during installation”.

Supported Systems

  • ideapad 300S-14ISK, ideapad 500S-14ISK, Lenovo Edge 2-1580
  • Lenovo Flex 3-1480, Flex 3-1580, Yoga 500-14ISK, Yoga 500-15ISK

A little update: I called customer service and it is probably a hardware problem, so I will send it in for repair.

Hi,

if you wish, you can try with this:

 

Turn OFF fast startup.

Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\System Settings

OR put ASPM to OFF in power management

I sent the laptop to repair where they changed the lcd and now it works like a charm! Thanks for all helpful suggestions!

Hi was your laptop under warranty or did you have to pay to have it repaired if so how much was it, I am asking because mine is out of warranty and I believe mine will need the same repair, also how long did it take for the whole process till you had your machine back thank you

Hi. Yes, the laptop was under warranty, so I did have not have to pay anything for the screen replacement. I have no idea how much it will cost. 

 

The same problem with the screen has occurred again now, and it is 1.5 years old. I contacted Lenovo and they told me that it should go under the warranty again. It seems to be a weakness in the laptop design, but I am very happy with the service from Lenovo.
