C940 15 Unable to Switch to 3840x2160 resolution

2020-05-27, 14:20 PM

Hi,

I purchased a C940 15 inch with the NVidia GPU and UHD screen yesterday. I am unable to switch to 4k resolution on the windows desktop. I tried launch a game that I know supports 4k and made sure it was running on the NVidia GPU and it also is unable to be set to higher than 1920x1080 resolution. Is there something I am missing?

Hi there PeregrinePDX

Welcome to the Community Forums.

From what I can gather looking over the device. The display has this information 15.6" HDR 400 FHD (1920x1080) IPS 500nits Glossy

Which means that the display itself does not support higher then 1920x1080, no matter what the graphic card supports.

The graphics card supports higher, but to be able to go 4k , you will need to attach a 2nd independent monitor that also supports 4k resolution.

Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q (4GB GDDR5 memory) or Intel UHD Graphics 630 in processor; supports external digital monitor via USB Type-C / Thunderbolt 3; supports two independent displays; Max resolution: 5120x3200@60Hz (USB Type-C)

Hope this clarifies any confusion and answers your query.

Have a nice day.

Voithos.

Are you sure you have the UHD edition? Because this should definitively have 3840-2160. At least, mine does!

Check out this page. https://psref.lenovo.com/Product/Yoga/Yoga_C940_15IRH Be sure to choose exactly the model you have, according to the numbers on left side of the table. (81TE0....). The column "display" will tell you the exact resolution of your display screen.
