Can I connect an external graphics card to my Yoga 900?

Hi, I'm new to the forums and just recently bought the Yoga 900. I was just wondering if it is possible to connect a graphics card to this laptop. I've tried to google it, but cannot seem to find a definitive answer. Any help would be much apprciated. Thanks!

EDIT:  I did notice that it is possible to connect a eGPU with a thunderbolt connection but could not find any mention of the yoga 900's USB type c port supporting thunderbolt.

Re: Can I connect an external graphics card to my Yoga 900?

Hi xenocider ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As this was also discussed on this thread

Yoga 900 USB Type C is not Thunderbolt 3 compatible

As per article

The new USB Type-C port supports:

- USB 3.0

- native display port 1.2 video output

- VGA/HDMI output using a Type-C VGA/HDMI adapter (which is a separate purchase)
(Ref: page 8 of

Adding to the above:  Gigabit Ethernet via any of several 3rd party USB-C-to-USB3 adapters that also feature an RJ45 jack.

Articles for reviews:

USB 3.1 Type-C port. There are no indications that this is a Gen. 2 Type-C port (10 Gbps) with Thunderbolt capability

Lenovo Yoga 900 reviews

As I can see , although it is not possible at the moment future upgrades may happen.
Hope this answered your query.

Re: Can I connect an external graphics card to my Yoga 900?

There are many hubs with external monitors.
My Yoga900 is connected to an Aluratek which gives a bunch. Do I now have a DVI Monitor, a HDMI monitor, and the laptop all active same time (also Ethernet, bunch of USB, headphones).
Its basically a USB3 docking station.

If you check Yoga 900 page here I think there is a Lenovo "docking station" with similar features.
