The battery is internal.... You cannot easily remove the battery. Use the EM battery conservation mode.

Laptops can run without battery easily. Just unplug the socket and leave the battery intact. You'll just get this status when you click on the battery icon:

You can always buy a spare battery in the future.... Also, you don't want the cells to go bad due to lack of use and resonance charge induced degradation loss.

Furthermore, if the power goes out and you are working on a project without being plugged into a battery backup, you are screwed. Look into the EM's battery life conservation mode. This mode will essentially discharge your battery to 50% and will not use/charge your battery at all, unless it hit its charge/decharge state (in which a cycle is done to preserve battery life). This mode will effectively do the same thing you are trying to do with the added perks of battery backup (in event of power failure) and periodic cycling to avoid damage.

your battery will die anyway, even if you don't use it. It internally degrade overtime.

The best way to store the battery is to keep it at about 40 to 60%.

There is a function in the Y2P that allows you to keep the battery quality. Use the conservation mode.
