Charger compatibility for Yoga Flex 5-1740

2019-10-27, 2:47 AM

Hi all,

I am the very happy owner of a Yoga Flex 5 1740. Its charger is the cable - brick - cable ADLX65NLC3A (1.8A) I wanted to know if the laptop is compatible with the wallwart - cable charger ADLX65CLGC2A (1.7A).

Checking the hardware manuals is bewildering.

The Flex 5 uses a 3-prong plug and the hardware manual for it shows the following parts:

Liteon ADLX65CLGC2A 20V3.25A COO SA10M42791

Liteon ADLX65CLGG2A 20V3.25A COO SA10M42714

as per https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/flex_5-1470_5-1570_hmm_201703.pdf

Surprisingly the manual does not list the ADLX65NLC3A  that came with the laptop :) part number 5A10J40449.

Looking at the chargers list for a Yoga 4 where the other charger came from:

Adapter Liteon ADLX65CLGC2A 20V3.25A adapter, BLACK 65W 2-PIN 5A10K78736  <--- this is what I have

Adapter Liteon ADLX65CLGG2A 20V3.25A adapter, BLACK 65W 2-PIN 5A10K78749

https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_flex4_1470_1570_1435_1480_1580_hmm_201609.p...

so, the ADLX65CLGC2A matches but not the part numbers, therefore I cannot use the 2-prong 5A10K78736 instead of the 5A10J40449.

Any suggestions? I doubt I can use a 2 prong to replace a 3 prong...

Thanks
