My charger sparks when i plug it in one way but seems to be fine when i flip it around. It started yesterday. I did not drop it or spill on it recently. Anyone having similar issues?
New charger required? I do not want to start a fire lol. Does Lenovo cover this under warranty?

If this is new behavior then I'd be concerned about the possibility of electrocution, fire and/or damage to the Y900. I'd report this to Lenovo. If the Y900 is under warranty then that should include the AC charger.

I have noticed this too with the YOGA 900 power supply, and also occasionally with some other supplies. I have tended to ignore (or accept) this behaviour thinking that it is probably a characteristic of the switched-mode power supply, e.g. an initial capacitor charging transient. The behaviour is likely to vary depending on the precise instant in the AC supply cyle the charger makes contact when plugged-in. Any definitive confirmation, or otherwise of this ?

I would tend to agree that this as a general characteristic of switched AC chargers. I too have seen the occasional sparks when plugging in various AC chargers, even those that provide relatively low power.
My response to @rsil24 was based on his, "It started yesterday." Perhaps he never noticed this before in which case this sparking is benign. Perhaps something inside the charger has failed. Since in that case this could result in severe consequences--electrocution of the user or property destruction--I suggested he contact Lenovo for assistance.
