Chime in if you love your Yoga

2013-01-05, 13:28 PM

It is hard to tell from reading the forum because people usually only post when they have problems but how many of you love your Yoga and haven't experienced the posted issues (paint issues, wifi problems...etc)?

Your right, trying to find out if the posted problems are widespread on the Lenovo community forums wouldn't be helpful to anyone...

I am very happy with mine, and don't suffer from any of the issues like paint chipping/peeling, wifi issues, or anything else, but I do have a case of coil whine from the CPU and it annoys me so much that I already exchanged it once and this one has the issue too (which seems to happen in a lot of core CPU laptops).  I'm waiting to see what happens at CES over the next few days to see whether I'll be returning it and waiting for the next model or a different laptop altogether.  I absolutely love the Yoga idea and it's exactly what I'm looking for in an Ultrabook, so I'd love to stay with it if they can fix this minor issue (along with all the other ones other people are having).

Re: Chime in if you love your Yoga

I was an early adopter (bought it first day out at Best Buy) and use it daily along with my family.  It gets put in laptop, tablet and tent mode daily and I pick it up in tablet mode while smashing the keys with my fingers without issue...  I did the disk allocation hotfix and have put on all of the Windows 8 updates long with the touchpad update.  Yes, I really like it (it's hard to love an inanimate object).  One issue that I did have was the touchscreen would not respond after waiting several seconds but this was resolved by turning off the sleep mode on the touchpad USB setting.

Some of the main issues on this board and how it affected me:

Fan noise - Yes, the fan runs all of the time but it is so quiet it doesn't bother me

Keyboard mushy in corner - no issue on mine - if I look at it and push against it, there is a little play but you really have to look for it

Wireless issues - none - I have great range and actually beat out my wife's iPad 2 on occasion.

Brightness issues - oops, I forgot to mention that I disabled the power saving thingy in the video driver to stop the flickering.  I always have my screen on Auto.

Peeling - none (so far)

Keyboard not turning off in tablet mode when unit sits at 90 degrees - ok, this one is weird and I am affected by it once in a great while.

I am sure I missed something but, all in all, the versatility of the Yoga along with the nice screen really makes it a great unit.  Hopefully, Lenovo can work some of the bugs out that people are experiencing.

Great, thanks very much. I really like the idea of having a Windows 8 tablet that is also a powerful laptop.

I love that too. It took me a few days to realize I wasn't just use a tablet anymore, that this was a full-on laptop that could do EVERYTHING I wanted. It is an incredible thing and I can't wait to see how things improve from here. This is basically what I always dreamed of out of a computer.

There is already a lengthy topic on this a few pages down with many thumbs up. I must revise my post there as my yoga developed a real, dead in the water problem... not anything about a matter of taste or annoyance which i was determined to live with.

Well, after my many constructive posts, i got no reply at all about my problem here and no help in how to deal with lenovo. I followed all kinds of false directions on lenovo web site leading me to register with ibm maintenence, or call numbers that put me on hold over and over until i was dropped. After days of this where critical deadlines were being passed, i finally reached a sympathetic ear in india that promised me to get out of this mess.

At best it will require many hours of me standing out by curbside waiting for multiple delivery handoffs, because they dont bother to properly contact me when they arrive. Yes, the yoga 13 design is that seductive, that i am putting up with this.
