Computer freezing

Yoga Laptop has been freezing frequently or screen goes black.  Nothing works except doing a hard reboot.  Laptop is only 4 months old.

That could be a Windows 10 or device driver issue.  

 

Check the Windows Event Logs  (Right-click Start >> Event Viewer)   Expand Windows Logs and examine the Application and System logs for errors around the time of the lockup/black screen.     You can also click on Filter Current Log... in the left pane to only show Critical and Error events to make finding serious problems easier. 

 

  • What specific Yoga Model do you have?
  • What Version of Windows 10 is installed?    (right-click Start >> System)    Look under "Windows Specifications".
  • Is there any specific task you are performing when the freeze occurs (watching video or web browsing etc?

 

I would also run a Lenovo Hardware Diagnostic either via Lenovo Vantage (also good for updating drivers), or Lenovo Diagnostics to check for any hardware problems with your system.
