Connecting Yoga Book (W10) to projector (via VGA)

2016-11-17, 13:25 PM

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a Yoga Book running Windows 10. I would like to connect it to a video projector. I bought a micro-HDMI to VGA connector. When I connect everything, neither W10 nor the projector recognize each other. In settings/Display,  if I click "detect" it says "no screen detected".

It is as though the HDMI port is completely off or the adaptator is faulty... I think the projector receive no signal at all...

Any suggestions ?

Thanks in advance.

Have you checked with a vga monitor? Some old projectors are fastidious connection-wise

Thank you.
I was able to test the HDMI to VGA connector I bought with another computer and it works. The problem is not this connector then.
How can I be sure that the HDMI port works correctly. Does Windows 10 list all functioning ports or something ?

I had the same problem. Please check if you can power your connector.Mine has a micro-usb entry on the side in  order to power it even if on some computers you don't need it. If it is the case please try to connect the micro-usb to power the connector it should help.

Thank you.
My HDMI to VGA has indeed a micro-usb entry on the side, I was not sure what it was for...
But since the Yoga Book does not have USB out, how can I power the connector ?
(If I need some sort of external USB battery just to power the connector, this is ridiculous...)

yes in fact on a stand alone monitor, I use one of the usb port of the monitor to power the convertor and in case of a projector I use my iphone plug to power. Not great bt nothing else to do with a single usb port on the yoga book....

Thank you mike260, your solution worked.
Indeed, the HDMI to VGA connector has to be powered via microUSB.
I guess the microHDMI port of the Yoga Book is not powerful enough...
Thanks again!

I have been using the Yogabook for work for the past few months, and I havent been facing any issues connecting it to the vga projector. I use a small lenovo branded micro hdmi to vga cable that doesnt require aditional power
