Do I have a defective battery? (Yoga 700)

2016-02-05, 6:27 AM

I bought my laptop back in Nov 2015.

First, I don't use the thing too often. I used it for like ~20 mins, then got the popup saying battery is lower than 10%, then the laptop goes to sleep mode automatically like 5 secs after. I plug in the charger, check battery and it's 1%.

Why in the world did the battery drop to 1% right after the warning which means I should have been at 9-10%.

Do I have a defective battery? Any way to check? First time happening, I don't use it that much so didn't run into it that often.

Okay, I finally got time to google around and found a way to generate a battery report on windows 10.

According to the thing (Last 2 are capacity remaining) :

14:44:15 Active Battery 28 % 12,800 mWh

15:07:01 Suspended   - 10 mWh

15:08:05 Active AC - 10 mWh

I'm on Tokyo time so it's actually -14h for time, not like it matters.

I came back from work and started using and it was at 28%, then in 23-24 mins, it dropped to >1%. (I was just surfing and playing a flash game btw)

Like I said, I got warning for low battery and it suspended then when plugged in, it says 1%.

Is my battery defective, how long is the battery guaranteed for?

Usually the laptops have a One year warranty which does cover Battery life.

You should contact support by phone for a battery replacement.

On this page, enter the model and it should point you to the various contact options -

I used to have similar problem, it was issue with battery. You may need to get a new battery.
