Docking Station/Hub for C940 - 14" and 15"
2020-05-31, 8:47 AM
The German company "HAMA" - well established for decades for photography and pc accessories - offer these two hubs which both work well with C940 laptops.
I have tested these Hubs in the following combinations:
C940 14", 9 in 1 hub:
Connections: All connections work reliably
PD charging : Will charge the device, needs 100 W PD capable USB-C power supply and cable.
C940 14", 12 in 1 hub
Connections: All connections work reliably
PD charging : Will charge the device, needs 100 W PD capable USB-C charger and cable.
C940 15", 9 in 1
Connections: All connections work reliably
PD charging : Will not charge the device.
C940 15", 12 in 1
Connections: All connections work reliably
PD charging : Will charge the device, but not reliably and slowly. Needs at least 100 W PD capable USB-C power supply.
For the daring only:
Lenovo provides a 230 Watt power supply.
One could try fitting this unit with a usb-c adapter and use it to charge both versions of the C940 - either via the Hama Hubs or directly via C940 TB 3 ports.
Be sure to use certified 100 Watts cables, others might severely overheat! The array works for me in all above cases. However I am NOT using the array for daily work.
Do not attempt this without constant supervision, both the hubs and the port might overheat.
The array is purely experimental.
I will not take any responsibility for "accidents" with this setup.
