DolbyDAX2API.exe causing crashes through BSOD

2018-02-07, 22:55 PM

Hi all,

Thanks for your support, it's my first post here.

The laptop specs are:

OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Home
Version 10.0.16299 Build 16299
System Manufacturer LENOVO
System Model 80VF
System Type x64-based PC
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7500U CPU @ 2.70GHz, 2904 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
BIOS Version/Date LENOVO 2JCN39WW, 31/05/2017
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 16.0 GB

My Yoga 910-13IKB Laptop consistently crashes when using this specific software.

The errors stated are usually:

  1. IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
  2. MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
  3. PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

And one more regarding a faulty driver (stated below).

So far I've:

  1. Restored the system several times (through Lenovo's recovery drive).
  2. Checked SSD & RAM integrity (no issues found).
  3. Checked drivers (all up-to-date). Intel Smart Sound Technology (SST) OED was failing (BSOD above), but I got it to work by rolling back to a previous version (compatible with it's partner driver: Intel Smart Sound Technology (SST) Audio Controller)

Regarding the software (Adobe Media Encoder), I've tried:

  1. Uninstalling and installing again.
  2. Cleaning Media Cache & Media Cache Files.
  3. Removing video & audio previews.
  4. Restoring default preferences.

My sequence settings are: 1920x1080, 25fps, 1.0 square pixels, 48khz audio.

My output settings are: H.264 1920x1080, 25fps, 1.0 square pixels, 12 to 15 mbps bitrate, 320kbps & 48khz audio.

Any new information/suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks :)

UPDATE:
I've found the issue with this driver through Event Viewer. It says:

Faulting application name: DolbyDAX2API.exe, version: 0.8.0.74, time stamp: 0x58be827e
Faulting module name: DolbyDAX2API.exe, version: 0.8.0.74, time stamp: 0x58be827e
Exception code: 0xc0000005

This issue replicated every time I attempt to use the software.

Hi, KGMJ.

You can uninstall every Dolby Software that is currently being used, this will not affect your audio quality & might address the issue.

In my case, the BSOD where more & more broad, and the PC became unusable (wouldn't boot). It's currently in the Lenovo Warehouse for repairs...

I'd assume you're issue is somehow smaller. Start by uninstalling that software & install WhoCrashed. That program will analize your mini dump files and point in the right direction in order to identify the faulty driver.
