Re: External Battery Packs - Yoga 2 Pro

2016-02-27, 23:03 PM

Hi All

I have lenovo yoga 3 11 and purchased Anker 2nd Gen Astro.

This external battery doesn't work with yoga, and I think the problem is that 20 V is required for yoga while the battery provides only 12 V.

In addition, I heard that yoga 3 has special power port. It looks like USB port but it actually has 6 pins instead of 4 pins. So, I cannot use the regular USB cable included in any external battery pack.

I see from this list lots of peope could get around this problem. What kind of cable did you use, or is there converter I have to buy? And how about the above external battery and other products?

Many thanks in advance!!

Hello,

You would need a external battery that delivers 20V and 5.2V, because that's what the original Lenovo charger does, and the connector would need to be this specific "USB" Lenovo one.

In my opinion, you have no chance to find this, it doesn't exist !

New RAVPower 23000 not charging Yoga 2 Pro

2016-10-05, 23:35 PM

I just bought a RAVPower 23000 for my Yoga 2 Pro

(from https://www.amazon.com/RAVPower%C2%AE-23000mAh-Portable-External-Multi-Voltage/dp/B00HFMUBYG/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1405048147&sr=1-1&keywords=ravpower+23000 )

The RAVPower arrived at 80% charge. I plugged it in and charged to 100% on its lcd display.

It was already set to 20V output on its lcd display.

I then plugged in the supplied cable with lenovo tip to the DC Output port on the RAVPower and to the power input on the Yoga2 Pro which was at 93% charge.

Shouldn't the Yoga 2 Pro then be showing a charging connector icon like when it's connected ot the wall adapter?

It didn't show a charging icon on the Yoga 2 Pro.

And the Yoga 2 Pro continued to discharge. The RAVPower stayed at 100% and the Yoga 2 Pro dropped to 91%.

Did I get a defective RAVPower or am I missing something?

Thanks for any advice.

Got a multimeter and it appers the RAVPower 23000 came with a faulty cable. I've emailed RAVPower support to let them know and will hopefully get it replaced soon.
