Bought the yoga pro 3 off Amazon last week and got it today. It was in an unopened box. So, I have the power cord and adapter plugged in, but what I assume is the charging status light doesn't light up. Then I press the power button and the power button light lights up, however the screen doesn't turn on (whether or not power cord was plugged in or not). I already googled a lot of the solutions online, but none worked. The adapter should be working because I then tested it separately with my phone and it was charging.
I contacted Lenovo support and the seller. Doing a serial number check, I found out that the laptop was bought in 2014, so the 1-year warranty already passed. I'm still waiting back on the seller's response and see if I can return/fix and on Lenovo if I can send it to them for fix, which both takes 2-3 business days.
However, in the meantime, it would be great if this is something I could fix on my own. I already resetted the laptop, forced shutdown, and etc a bunch of times. Followed a lot of online procedures. I do not want to pop open the back of the laptop cover and mess around with the battery yet because I rather not screw things up and not being able to get a refund/waranty coverage. The only interesting thing I discovered was then sometimes after I forced shutdown, the charging light will blink orange once and then disappear.
This situation seems unique because the laptop doesn't turn on fresh out of the box. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi JJGong ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
As it should provide power directly on AC when plugged with the ac adapter , try connecting it with an external monitor and see if there is any onscreen. Would pressing caps / num lock also show LED showing on/off even with external USB keyboard ?
For the LED status indicator check on page 28 . Since you have already performed recommended power check out (page19). Proceeding futher as you thought of with the battery opening the cover is not recommended at this point that may invalidate the reseller warranty. Do try to have it connected and charge for 1 hour too.
Update us how this go.

Thanks for the quick reply,
I do not have a micro HDMI cable atm to connect to an external monitor (TV).
I also do not have an external usb keyboard, so I don't know if I can perform those 2 tests yet without purchasing 2 extra items, which I don't think I'll ever use again.
I read the manual on page 28 and the battery status indicator is blacken out, which indicates that it is not charging at all. The AC adapter also feels rather cold, I thought I should expect some sort of warmness from it since it is a charging battery pack after all. The adapter seems to work fine when charging my iphone 5S via its cable.
The power status indicator is solid white if I power on the laptop, but the screen is black. If the laptop is working as intended, the screen should be turned on regardless whether or not it is charging, correct? Pressing caps numlock doesn't do anything (no lights indicating a caps lock or anything)

Hi JJGong ,
It fine not being able to connect to an external and not having external keyboards as what you have already described is sufficient for a No P.O.S.T. (power on self test) issue .
It suppose to have a display even without battery and just run on AC but it should at least give an battery indicator status . We know that the ac charger works and was able to supply power ( power LED solid white) so it leaves us with probable power board and systemboard issue as we know that it is not the LCD or LCD cable since caps/ num lock failed to respond as it should if it successfully completed POST.
At this point , nothing else to do more than to contact the reseller .
Hope this helped answer your query.
