Graphics card not switching (YOGA)

2018-12-22, 21:26 PM

Hi,

PROBLEM:
I have the problem that my Laptop isn't switching to the built in GTX1050 while running games and instead keeps using the built-in Intel HD Graphics 630 resulting in extremely low performance.

ALREADY TRIED:

I tried changing the settings in the NVIDIA control panel (nothing changed) as well as disabling the Intel graphics, resulting in no graphics card being used (pc swapped to "Microsoft Basic Display Driver").

I checked my BIOS setup and can only choose between "Switchable Graphics" and "UMC graphics" (or something similar, can't recall exactly), former being the standard setting and the current problem, latter seemingly ONLY using the Inter gc (the GTX didn't even show up in the devices manager when i enabled it).

I also tried to set the graphics setting for specific application to "high performance" in the system settings (it showed explicitly that the graphics card for "high performace" was the GTX), but this did nothing as well.

I don't know what else I can do and am quite frustrated at this point.
Can anybody help me?

EDIT: Forgot to add specs:

I barely remember, but I think my problem was mainly related to games that wouldn't work properly and I had to reduce the screen resolution in the end. Unfortunately I don't know which one it was so I can't go and check what I did, sry. What exactly do you have problems with?
