I can't turn on auto rotation

2017-06-14, 2:08 AM

I own a yoga 710-14iKB.

Till a while ago, I was able to rotate my screen whether the tablet mode is on or off.

But now I can't rotate the screen in neither mode.

I tried switching to tablet mode but the rotation lock option would stay greyed out.

this problem bothers me alot as I need to rotate my screen as I use the laptop in different modes and positions.

Hi

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

I  tried most of the solutions a few days ago but none of them worked.

However, sloution number 10 actualy did solve it for me.

Apparently, YMC service caused the problem for me. I updated YMC a while ago through the

Lenovo companion app. Something is wrong with it and it messed up the rotation settings.

I was super frustrated. Screen rotation is a major reason for buying a 2-in-1, and not being able to do so is a bummer.

I can't thank you enough.

Thank you @hassanhom - #10 did the trick for me as well. Brand new $2,000 Yoga 920 and I can't even rotate vertically.  And the cause is software from the company I gave my money too? hmmmmm....

I have a Lenovo Yoga 720.

Till a while ago, I was able to rotate my screen whether the tablet mode is on or off.

But now I can't rotate the screen in neither mode.

I tried switching to tablet mode but the rotation lock option would stay greyed out.

I also tried to turn off rotation lock in settings > display > rotation lock

but the option is greyed out as well.

I also checked out this: https://windowsreport.com/rotation-lock-grayed-windows-10/

And tried #10 that happened to work for someone else, but it still is not working.

Please help!

If you tried #10 make sure you also stopped the YMC service (right click + "stop") or restarted computer. At first I just changed the startup type, and it did nothing, but once I stopped the program everything is back to normal for me.

Make sure ymc service is installed. Search for services app. If its not in the app, download it again from lenovo.com.

I believe Lenovo Vantage uninstalled mine. This fixed my X1 Yoga.

Re: I can't turn on auto rotation

i personally think the world of it is based on getting people to pay 2000$ for a device so they can get millions of people to find the bugs

i would also assume that in a fair world, a bug free finished and perfected product would be worth 2000$

But after moving from Mac and Apple after 6 years and come back to windows, three quartes of each day is spent searching for solutions, encountering bugs, watching settings get reset after an update.., having to restart three times for updates every day when all i wish to do is open my browser and start work, and then see when a simple setting like auto screen rotate requires a 2000$ dollar surface book customer to do all the help himself by doing the following daunting list of sysiphus workn to fix it;

Turn on portrait mode on your device,
Reset your device,
Use your device in tent mode,
Disconnect your keyboard
Switch to Tablet Mode
Change Last Orientation registry value
Uninstall / Update your display drivers,
Make sure that your screen is allowed to auto rotate.,
Disable YMC service,
Remove Intel Virtual Buttons Driver,
Disable sensors from Device Manager and enable them again,
Download latest firmware, drivers, and Windows updates,
Download latest firmware, drivers, and Windows updates
, Update your BIOS
Restart Windows 10
Reset this PC

you think my grandma could do all the above to fix a non rotating screen? not even albert einstein would find it enticing

you should have a downloadable click and fix.. you sell these devices for big profits.. you fix it Lenovo!.. not the customer! its your bad.. so accept responsibility and write a fix for people to click on insytead of the above list, which sounds like a day of hell

we are trying to work on our pc, not spend all day fixing the daily bug.. whicvh is daily believe me.. if not one thing with winbdows.. its the other, After 6 years with macs and osx, i am finding trying to work on windos a constant interruption of updates, fails, crashes, forums full of false or outdated info.,.. itsd a jungle out here in windowsland

if  a 2000$ surface book or a 1500$ lenovo yoga is served up with all these bugs and presented as 'ready finished product.. well, i am going to start sellinbg broken tvs and start a forum with fixit yourself inbfo pages.. just like this

you should make your devices work before you put them on the market.. none of you manufacurers do. I bought this Yoga 520 2 weeks ago and it has broken twice already after 1. windows update broke lenovo settings and drivers and then 2. Lenovo Update broke windows! 2000$ for that? you call that a finished sellable product?
