INSANE fan noise, disk/memory/processor usage [Lenovo Yoga 710 IKB]

2017-02-22, 17:02 PM

My laptop have been running for like an hour now, getting really hot and with the fan on full settings while a **bleep** ton of **bleep** is running on my computer. I have these problems occasionally. The fan spinning up for no reason and under light usage is a regular issue. How do I fix this?

Hi there, Noluck         -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

In response to customer reports of unexpected fan noise on Yoga 710 system, Lenovo has released several solutions.

For customers experiencing buzzing fans or fans that make physical sounds like scratching on Yoga 710-14ISK and 15ISK systems, please contact Lenovo Service and reference Service TIP # SF16-I0026. The system will need to be serviced under warranty.

For customers experiencing loud fans on Yoga 710-14IKB and 15IKB systems, BIOS v.26 has been released. It makes minimal changes to fan speed and performance to reduce fan noise. It can be downloaded here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/DS118587

For customers experiencing loud fans on Yoga 710-14ISK and 15ISK systems, BIOS v. 22 has been released. It makes minimal changes to fan speed and performance to reduce fan noise. It can be downloaded here: http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/DS112987

If you do not know which model your system is, Lenovo invites you to use Detect My Product, supported by Lenovo Service Bridge.

For any fan issues not covered above, please contact Lenovo Service for assistance.

Update us how it goes.

Thanks! The BIOS update seems to have fixed it.

I have another problem though. The laptop makes a lot of noise and creaks whenever I lift it up, open or move the screen lid, just change its position on my lap etc. It makes these cheap creaking noises often seen on very cheap old laptops and toys, but this computer is very expensive so it should not do this. It is not a very loud noise, but you can hear it almost all the time unless the laptop is stationary on a table etc. Have you encountered this issue before?

It feels very cheap when it makes noises and creaks like that when I simply pick it up.
