Is the Yoga 2 Pro Worth the wait?

2013-12-06, 15:57 PM

My Yoga has still not shipped that I ordered in October. I am seeing a lot of complaints and issues. Is it even worth waiting for?  I have the original Yoga 13 but I really haven't had any issues....thoughts? 2 months since I ordered and they just keeping moving out the date. Great laptops, sucky customer service.

Boards like these are often filled with people with problems.   The happy customers don't bother logging in.

I have had my Clementine i7 / 8g / 256 gb model for 3 weeks now and I love it.  I am very happy with my decision.    With all of the great reviews now coming out, no wonder it is in short supply.

Great point. I have loved my Yoga but I did have issues last year in ordering and their customer service ranks up their with Sprint. It doesn't get much worse than that. Worse, they never notify us that the shipping date is moved out and now Christmas and tax write off is ruined and everything I would want is out of stock everywhere.

I concur with this wholeheartedly.  I have had my Y2P sincel launch and have had zero issues.  It's a great machine and I am very glad that I got it.  I didn't think that the various modes would be useful, but they have been and I use them often.  That alone is reason enough to buy this machine.  The specs for the price are just a bonus.  And the screen is pure buttery deliciousness.

Unfortunately, I need the larger harddrive, which you can(could) only get online with Lenovo. I guess I will attempt to be patient once again.

... might consider what I did - buy with the 256GB drive, replace the drive with the 480GB Crucial M500 from amazon, sell the 256... not quite the same and probably some warranty implications, but an option

Weird that people are having so many problems getting these.  There are 7 BestBuy stores in my city and every one of them has numerous Y2P's in stock.

Not the 8/256 version. 4/128 seems to be available everywhere though.

Ironically, we got a call this afternoon that they expect to ship and receive it in time for Christmas. Heard that before, but hopefully it is true. I will wait it out and see what happens.  If it comes to having to replace the hard drive from 256 to 512 , I may consider it, but hopefully it will be a nonissue. Can't wait to get it in my hands!
