Is there a preinstalled program that makes a backup of the Yoga?

2012-11-02, 15:18 PM

I see people making mention of backing up their Yoga 13 but I can't find any software on the machine that does this. I've had Dell's in the past that do this and you just feed the machine DVD's. Does the Yoga have this?

Thanks

You could use Windows 8 to create a recovery drive with Lenovo's recovery partition via Control Panel -> Search for "Recovery" -> "Create a recovery drive", then check the "Copy the recovery partition from the PC to the recovery drive".  You will probably need a 32GB USB stick for this as well.  @Yikes2000

I was able to use a 16GB microSD with a SD card adaptor.

That, I'm not sure on. I just went through the process Andy described by going in to the Control Panel and use the "Create recovery drive" function.

No, there is a hidden 20 GB partition on the SSD that is the recovery partition. If you run the backup function to create a new recovery drive to a USB or SD card, the system will let you delete that partition from the SSD and recover the space to your C:drive.

Yoga can't boot from an SD card, so if you want to be able to use the recovery drive to fix the computer when Windows won't boot up, use a USB hard drive or flash drive.

Search for and run "OneKey Recovery".  This is the pre-installed program that will backup your system drive to the D: partition or to an SD card.  It will also allow you to do a complete system restore (from the hidden recovery partition mentioned earlier in this thread).
