Language support for the recognition of handwriting on Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13

2013-09-06, 14:58 PM

I’ve got my Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 in Russia with Windows 8 Single Language Edition on it.
I’ve set up three keyboard layouts, those are German, Russian and English. Both the on-screen keyboard and handwriting recognition work for English and Russian. However, with German I don’t have the handwriting recognition as an option. How could I activate it or install it? Should I buy Windows 8 Pro Pack for it or does this restriction have to do with something else?

If it’s all about the Windows SL license I would rather prefer to have the recognition of German handwriting instead of English.

Hi eugrus,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

You may need to add a German language pack and then you will see the Language settings to personalize handwriting recognition. Language packs are available for computers that are running Windows 8. The language packs are installed from the language control panel on the Yoga 13. Follow the steps in the link below:

Note: If you are facing issues with Windows SL license to download the Language pack in Windows 8, you may need to get Windows 8 Pro, you may also follow the steps to choose your required language in the “Handwriting Option”:

  1. Please hold the (Windows key + C) to go to the Charms bar.
  2. On the Charms bar please click on Search.
  3. Please select Settings under Search option and type “Language”.
  4. Now please click on “Language” and click on “Input method and Handwriting"
  5. You can add your required language now.
  6. You can personalize the Handwriting option by clicking on “Personalize hand writing recognition”.

Hope this Helps.

Do post us back if the issue still persists.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar
