Laptop won't detect external monitor

2017-02-08, 23:18 PM

I am trying to connect my yoga 710-14isk to my external monitor through the micro hdmi port on the side of the computer. When I plug it in and go into display settings it isn't being detected. I'm not sure if I need certain drivers to do this or what. Please let me know what I can do to make this work.
Thanks

Re: Laptop won't detect external monitor

I also have the problem that I am unable to use an external monitor. I tried shaving off some of the plastic from a micro-USB cable. I cannot insert any further and there is still about 1mm of silver visible.

I also tried finding and downloading the latest display drivers but this had no effect.

For a short while after I purchased this Lenovo notebook an external monitor worked OK. Then one day it no longer worked.

If anyone has any ideas much appreciated.

I've tried multiple chords and none of them work. This monitor works with my other computer. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

First thing is suggest i make sure you have all the windows updates done, next try downloading the chipset driver from the Lenovo support page as this normally solves a lot of issues.

If these steps do not work or you would like more info on this issue you can call your local Lenovo support line. Below is the link to the phone list where you can find these numbers:

this issue is tied to a failing Intel Display update that comes from Windows Update Services.

To correct this issue, you'll need to go to your Settings > Update & Security > Go to the View update history link and find the Intel Display update under the Drivers list that has failed. you can get the info you need from there. you can possibly just click on it to launch a search for Windows udpate Catalog. if that isn't the case for your system, then go to Bing.com because blah! to google and type in windows update catalog. Search for the erring Intel Display number and then download and install. you'll probably have a boatload of results returned. Find the one that best matches your OS and install. Restart the machine and you should be good to go.
