Left speaker malfunction on Yoga C930 - sound sometimes produced but later cuts out

2020-08-13, 3:28 AM

The left speaker in the sound bar of my C930 will intermittently produce sound. For example, during the speaker/sound test, the left speaker will work and other times it won't. Or, if a stream is started the left speaker will produce sound for a short time but then stops. The sound in the left speaker will often return if one of the many sound settings is switched, but then it cuts outs again. This is confirmed by adjusting the L/R balance while something is playing.

I've searched and installed all updates available for Win 10 and the sound drivers and this hasn't solved the problem. It seems like a software rather than hardware problem.

Lenovo- any suggestion for next step on how to resolve this problem?

Hi, just wanted to add that I've just started experiencing the same issue.

Hopefully, someone with a solution can chime in.

I have the same issue. Seems to happen at random, left speaker cuts out then comes back on a little later, usually after adjusting volume or starting another audio stream. Windows 10 and drivers are all updated, rolling them back didn't help. Maybe it's a hardware issue? I see a lot of posts about a similar issue for thinkpads, but this is the only post I've seen about this for the C930.

Same Problem.  Left speaker cuts out after a few seconds of working.  Lenovo what's up.  I have tried rolling back drivers and reinstalling current drivers. Please figure this out.

No response from Lenovo about this problem that several folks indicate they're also experiencing (and undoubtedly many more are too), and it's been over a year!

Given my further problems with the bottom of the device getting hot to the touch when plugged, and the futility of paying extra for the warranty level that includes depot service (except not really, totally useless), I will not be buying another Lenovo nor recommending them to anyone.
